HISTORY
CODEP is a short form for COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME. CODEP was started in the year 1983 with many Objectives to improve status of the poor people in and around Chetpet. With this in mind the I.T.I was started in the year 1989 by DR. M. Aschhoff, M.D., Programme Director, CODEP, with financial assistance received from Desutscher Caritasverband.In the year 1994, this Institute was handed over to the Vellore Social Service Society in lease deed, an official social organ of the Catholic Diocese of Vellore and the CODEP became a unit of VSSS – VELLORE SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY.
The past 33 years CODEP has developed tremendously.Developing a society where people are helped to help themselves for a sustainable growth.

OBJECTIVES
To identify and give expression to the needs of a particular community with which the institution works, irrespective of caste or creed.
To mobilize the local human and material resources for development by building up an attitude of self-help among the people.
To develop an attitude of mutual cooperation and desire to help one another.
To provide, when absolutely essential, resources for development with the object of making the reasonable period of time.
